Butter Crunch

Quick peanut brittle style hard candy featuring chocolate and walnuts.
Ingredients -

1 cup Sugar
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/4 cup Water
1/2 cup Butter
2 packages Semisweet Chocolate
1 cup finely chopped Walnuts

 
Preparation:

1. Grease cookie sheet with butter.

2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, salt, water and butter.

3. Bring sugar mixture to boil over low heat. Stir constantly until sugar dissolves.

4. Bring mixture to exactly 285 F on candy thermometer.

5. Pour boiled mixture onto cookie sheet and cool thoroughly.

6. Melt chocolate in double boiler. Spread half over hardened candy. Sprinkle half the walnuts over the chocolate.

7. Turn and repeat process.

8. When hard, break candy into pieces.

Walnuts
Substitute your favorite plain or dry roasted nut for the walnuts called for in this recipe. Chopped pecans, hazelnuts or peanuts would all be good choices.
